Ji De Chi @ Jurong Point

Dessert time! My friend and I visited the outlet at Jurong Point.

Address: 63 Jurong West Central 3 Jurong Point (New Wing) #03-102/103/104
Tel : 6794 8887
Opening Hours: 11am-10pm

Check out their website here.

We're looking for something hot and cold.

Mixed ball in ginger - $2.80

I love tang yuan. These glutinous rice balls have different fillings such as peanut and sesame. The hot tangy ginger soup gives a tingling sensation to the tongue. Too much for me to take. I scooped the rice balls out and leave the soup untouch. If you love ginger, maybe this is the dessert for you.

Mango Pomelo - $4.50.

I made this dessert in my "I'll Make It Myself" page. Click here to take a look. I love the mango puree that makes this dessert slightly thick. I also like how they add shaved ice on top so it gives texture to the dessert. Sago are well cooked and mango is sweet.

Durian In Sticky Rice. - $5.80

This is basically durian meat wrapped with glutinous rice and covered with coconut shreds. It comes with other fillings like green tea with black glutinous rice and mango. The glutinous rice is chewy like mochi and the shredded coconut gives it a fibre texture. Pure durian meat in the middle!

Ji De Chi is a dessert shop that gained popularity in the past years. Although the dessert are a little pricier but its ingredients and quality is definitely worth the price.

Sweet Box Crepes

SWEET BOX
Address:
Harajuku 1-17-5 Jingu-mae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo

Hours:
11:00 - 10:30 pm (weekdays)
10:30 to 10:30 pm (holiday)

This creperie was one of the first few shops we see when we enter the Harajuku street. Very easy to spot, bright pink shop!

Crepes ranges from 330yen to 550yen. You can look at the menu on their website here.

Crepes are pretty common in Singapore but I had never tried them because I thought it wasn't worth paying so much for cream. After seeing so many people eating these crepes at the Harajuku street, we figure this is a food trend in Japan so my friend and I decided to try it.

Strawberry Chocolate flavor - 400yen (approx. $5.70)

I thought that crepes are crispy but I was wrong. It is actually pretty soft and slighty chewy. Taste like love letters but a soft version.

Warm crepe with fresh cream, chocolate drizzle and strawberry bits. Smooth cream, chewy crepe and strawberries cubes gives a pleasant surprise. It is not too sweet as the sour strawberries balances the sweet cream and chocolate. Eating one is enough, too fattening!

Pretty tasty.

Magnum Mini

I found these new flavors in the supermarket today. Magnum mini (6's) - $8.90

Two flavors - Pistacchio and Gianduia Nougat (Chocolate and Hazelnut)

I don't whenever I see green ice-cream, I automatically associate it with being minty and fresh. It is nothing like that. Pistacchio! It taste like almond though.

One thing I like about magnum ice-cream is their thicky and sweet milk chocolate coating! Super sweet but I like it. The chocolate and hazel nut tasted a little like coffee. Yum. Premium ice-cream.

Lao Ban Soya Beancurd - Old Changi Airport Road

Location: Blk 51 Old Airport Road #01-127/107, (390051), Maxwell Road Food Centre #01-91 (060000)

Lao Ban Takeaway : $1.50 for the plain soya beancurd

Used to eat beancurd on Saturday mornings with my family when I was younger. To me, beancurd  always taste more or less similar but Lao Ban changed my opinion of beancurd. This is really good stuff and taste like no other.

The stall is opened by an old couple from Hong Kong and the Lao ban logo is pretty sweet.

It looks like the usually beancurd but with "wrinkled skin". The texture is silky and smooth. It slips down the throat and has a very fragrant pandan and soya taste. Unlike the usually beancurd, this one is more milky. It is like drinking soya bean milk.

Their soya bean curd is the best I'd ever tasted in Singapore and there are usually long queues for this awesome dessert. Reservations can be made. Definitely recommended.
